Today we present the eighth edition of our MINE project, which is now more than two years old. MINE VIII has stories on several vendors who help service and supply the Iron Range mines. The Hollister quarry (Stugard pegmatite 69) is reached by starting at parking location B (fig. 2). An abandoned mine road extends south to the quarry. The northern open-cut and dumps are about 15 yards into the woods east of the trail. The southern excavation is yards beyond, on the west side of the trail. Over a century’s toll of mining iron ore in the uplands of the Laurentian Divide: For the sake of our waters and the northern ecology of this priceless watershed, please send your comments: M.

Rhythmic copper sulphide bands occur in the Weissliegendes sandstones, in the footwall of the Kupferschiefer in the mining district of SW Poland. The δ 34S values of sulphides vary from −39 to — 44‰ (6–7‰ lighter than Kupferschiefer sulphides).
The copper sulphides are represented mainly by digenite and chalcocite. Volcanic massive sulfide (VMS) and volcanogenic hosted massive sulfide (VHMS) deposits are characterized by stratabound sulfide ores precipitated from hydrothermal fluids, formed on or near the seafloor, and genetically associated with contemporaneous volcanism (e.g., Franklin et al., Franklin et al., Lydon, Lydon, Large.
considering the continuation of the ores in depth. The relations between the two parageneses are briefly discussed, and different origins are suggested.
The occurrence of a cobalt sulphide in the ore at Raipas mine, Alta, indicates that the ores of the copper paragenesis belong to the world-wide group og Cu-Co-U ores. Copper in Cyprus is encountered in sulfide ore deposits and for that reason numerous mines were developed in areas where sulfide deposits were located .

Northeastern Minnesota has long had iron mining, but only recently has there been a push to extract sulfide ore that contains copper, nickel and small amounts of gold, platinum and silver.

Abstract. A concentrically zoned alteration pipe is present at the Amulet "A" Cu-Zn mine in the Archean Abitibi greenstone belt. delta 18 O values decrease from about 6 to 10 in most of the Abitibi belt to 5 to 7 in the country rocks surrounding the ore deposit, to values as low as in the core of the dalmatianite zone.

Supplementary Tests on the LPU Ore The supplementary testsof ferric sulfate leaching were performed in the same general conditions as the test &scribed in the 1st stage report () but with concentration of ferric sulfate halved.
Initial iron concentration was diminished from about 60 g Fe/l in previous tests, to 34 g Fell in this test. Two LPU ore-samples were leached according to the. massive sulphides and sulphide muds in areas of volcanic activity (from to 5, metres water depth).
Although these deposits are actively forming on the seafloor today, they are not renewable except at geological time scales. The metals in manganese nodules and cobalt crusts take mil-lions of years to accumulate; large polymetallic sulphide.
The sulfide project enables the mine to process refractory ores that contain approximately 66% of the roughly t (6 Moz) of current Twin Creeks’ gold reserves.
Current Au production at the Twin Creeks mine is close to 1Moz (~, oz. in ), of which approx. two thirds is recovered from sulfide refractory ores; the remainder being. Pentlandite has been found as a widespread minor or trace mineral in contact-metasomatic type copper and iron-copper ores of the Kamaishi mine.

British Columbia’s Sullivan Mine targeted a massive sulfide deposit consisting of silver, zinc, and lead ore minerals. The ore rocks have interesting contorted banding. This is an unusual example of a sulfide deposit having a sedimentary origin. The Sullivan Deposit is a SEDEX deposit, which stands for sedimentary exhalative deposit.
